ASHTAS Operative Training Information

Roading Industry Support Services is an Approved Training Provider for the Austroads Safety Hardware Training Accreditation Scheme with Lantra for the operative workshop and test.

A prerequisite for this workshop in New Zealand is the ConstructSafe Card or the equivalent Cosntruction Induction Card (White Card) Australia. You can check if you hold this ConstructSafe prerequisite here

This training is structured so those crews installing barrier systems across New Zealand and Australia are working to a uniform accreditation to ensure systems are installed to manufacturer’s specifications, so they perform as designed and tested.

The ‘Operative Workshop’ is foundational learning for all crew members working to install barrier systems. This is about 3-4 hours of learning completed in the classroom followed by a multi-choice test or online at the student’s pace 4-5 hours followed by the multi-choice test. This allows all workers an understanding of the fundamentals of barrier systems, expectations of working in a team, and critical barrier system elements.

Following the learning and successfully completing the test they will be awarded the Operative Accreditation. This includes the issuing of a digital certificate and eCard they can have within their phone wallet to demonstrate completion of the course.

Installers are responsible for overseeing and mentoring Operatives within the road safety barrier system crew.

You can see the upcoming workshop here along with registration forms to attend.
