ASHTAS Installer Training Information
Roading Industry Support Services is an Approved Training Provider for the Austroads Safety Hardware Training Accreditation Scheme with Lantra for the installer workshops, testing, and assessment.
The prerequisite for this workshop is the ASHTAS Operative Accreditation.
This training is structured to demonstrate good leadership and knowledge of barrier barrier systems across New Zealand and Australia and are working to a uniformed accreditation to ensure systems are installed to manufacturer’s specifications, so they perform as designed and tested.
The first step as an Installer is the Installer A workshop and test. This workshop provides an understanding of all barrier system types and overview requirements. It helps the learner understand the leadership role and an understanding of how to use the e-logbook they will use to demonstrate their installation standard that will be used to assess their experienced installer status.
After successfully completing their Installer A workshop the learner can then move on to Installer B workshops. The learner will only be required to complete the workshops that they will be using in their workplace. There are five workshops that will be available.
- Semi-rigid systems ie w-section
- Flexible systems ie wire rope
- Rigid systems ie concrete formed
- Terminals and crash cushions
- Temporary / Workzone systems
Following each workshop, you will be required to complete the appropriate eLogbook requirements. Once completed your eLogbook will be assessed by an independent Lantra Assessor. On successfully being assessed, you will be issued a certificate and E-Card to demonstrate competence and accreditation for the system.
It will be optional for teams to progress onto system owner learning packages.
The accreditation will be valid for 3 years and when using your eLogbook you can complete evidence close to your 3 year expiry and be assessed to validate for another 3 years if you can demonstrate current practice still meets best practice at the time of renewal.
Currently Installer A workshop is being prepared to be tested in September 2024 and ready for delivery in October 2024. Shortly after delivery of Installer A, the first 2 Installer B workshops will be ready for delivery.
