ASHTAS Installer Training

Advanced competency for installing road safety barrier systems.

This course builds on the Operative module and develops the skills required to lead and complete barrier installations to specification

Who this course is for

Workers who already hold the ASHTAS Operative qualification and are progressing into roles with greater responsibility for barrier installation, quality, and compliance.
Ideal for:

  • Leading hands
  • Experienced crew members
  • People preparing for supervisory or QA responsibilities

What you will learn

Participants gain deeper technical capability and system‑specific installation knowledge, including:

  • Advanced installation requirements for common barrier systems
  • Manufacturer specifications and performance considerations
  • Site preparation, sequencing, and quality control
  • Troubleshooting installation issues
  • Documentation, inspection, and compliance expectations
  • Working effectively with designers, inspectors, and network operators

Prerequisites

To enrol in the Installer course, participants must hold:

  • A valid ASHTAS Operative qualification
  • A valid ConstructSafe Card (New Zealand) or Construction Induction (White) Card (Australia)

Course format

  •  Instructor‑led workshop Modules A and B
  • Practical, hands‑on installation stories shared
  • Assessment included
  • Delivered by approved trainers under the Austroads Safety Hardware Training and Accreditation Scheme

Accreditation

Successful participants receive the ASHTAS Installer qualification, issued by Lantra under the Austroads Safety Hardware Training and Accreditation Scheme.
